Merry Xmas... Macau

ticketsSite idle for 2+ months...  Supposedly quite a few things to write - about my recent tests on some mini-ITX systems and also the WTO disturbance (hey, it's far from being called a "riot" as stated by the Hong Kong Police.  We don't need to follow closely the PRC standards by exaggerating a simple matter for justifying a police action!)

However, it's Xmas/New_Year time - So, I treat my wife and myself an accidental trip to Macau instead (just an hour's trip from Hong Kong by sea).  Wine & food make the day...

Bridge by TowerThere is a Portuguese restaurant at the ground floor of the Macau Tower.  At sea level, this is quite a night view from the open air restaurant.  The Macau Tower is a fun place as well.  It's a 233 meters high architecture with the sole purpose of sight-seeing and adventure act.  No, unlike Hong Kong, it isn't packed with restaurants or shops through out the tower but just something at the top, and a separate mall at ground.  This is what I call a true architecture.

...in western fine dining style. However, this is not the best part of Macau cuisine.  Those who are familiar with the place will turn instead to those old restaurants serving Portuguese food blended with local recipes, or just plain Chinese dishes.

One thing that Macau doing particularly well is heritage conservation.  Perhaps land prices is moderate in the city, the motivation to turn every piece of land to yet another shopping mall or skyscraper is not as intense as in Hong Kong.  Enjoy not only the food, but also the atmosphere.Sweet Soup Menuanother menuthe shopthe street

What's next?  Perhaps a better planned trip to Macau again!
