Merry Xmas... Macau
Site idle for 2+ months... Supposedly quite a few things to write - about my recent tests on some mini-ITX systems and also the WTO disturbance (hey, it's far from being called a "riot" as stated by the Hong Kong Police. We don't need to follow closely the PRC standards by exaggerating a simple matter for justifying a police action!)
However, it's Xmas/New_Year time - So, I treat my wife and myself an accidental trip to Macau instead (just an hour's trip from Hong Kong by sea). Wine & food make the day...
The news "guardian"
They beat him until he was lifeless (10 Oct) is a total exaggeration. On the next day, Guardian posted Activist found alive after beating by mob (11 Oct). There is no way that Lu can still "has told" The Guardian if what reported on 10 Oct is not an exaggeration – his tongue was cut just 24 hours ago!
The "People's" Republic of China
I read a sad news today:
They beat him until he was lifeless
We know that humans are not perfect, and sometimes we behave like animals, except that in China, we institutionalize such behavior in the name of stability and prosperity.
Update: The news is confusing, as there are also accusations that The Guardian reporter exaggerated.
My daily prayer
I like my job, I hate my job. Whichever is the reason, I work long hours.
Perhaps to the modern man, work is the only objective in life. Disregarding the proliferation of health clubs and entertainment centers in modern cities, we don’t really entertain. We are just looking for a re-charge before the next day for yet more work. If a boss tells someone that s/he doesn’t need to work on the next day, I don’t think health/entertainment comes first to the mind.
