Never thought of that browsers could recognize such an "IP" address:

Actually, the linux wget utility also understands it.

The above obfuscated URL points to IP 66.94.230.47, i.e. one of the www.yahoo.com's servers.

I wouldn't notice this not until a phishing mail to my mailbox uses this technique. Of course, that mail didn't point me to yahoo but something else.

I am pretty tolerant to spam mails, perhaps because I’ve got a good filter (spam assassin) on my mail server. Also, the recent hunting down of major spammers (including one murdered…) around the globe does have an effect. My daily spam log has items reduced from 120+ to 60+ - almost down by half.

Well, I pretty like the idea of Google Earth, not just because of technology, but also how it brings technology to the public for free.

Such satellite images were once only available to the military but now come free for anyone who has Internet access. This is actually rebellious. So, don’t you think only the big boys can fool around at your backyard – you can fool around theirs as well.

Ha, yet another Drupal site? Well, it has been ages since my last subnet142.com setup. Earlier, it lived for a while on the Microsoft Personal Web Server at my home PC (it was when ISPs had not yet blocked any port), and then a brief exercise on ASP under the same home PC for posting of restaurant menus. It wasn’t for business but simply to facilitate my take-away ordering in the office – well, the good old days of overnight programming.
